The First Honda Fit EV Hits the Road

When Honda unveiled their Fit EV concept at the LA Auto Show last year, they promised a quick turnaround time. That is to say - they assured everybody that a production model was well on its way and we'd see it soon. Well, they've come through on their promise, and the very first Fit EV made its way to California this month.
Owned by the Municipality of Torrance, CA, the first EV is part of Honda's initial real-world tests of the all-electric Fit. By the summer, with the input of the first test groups, Honda plans to release the Fit EV in more California markets, as well as Oregon, followed by six East Coast markets in early 2013.
Pflueger Honda expects the new car will impress in the real-world as much as it did on the floor at the auto show. Mostly because we already think pretty highly of the original Honda Fit, and the electric version boasts many of the same features, with a few modifications to accommodate and complement the new powertrain.
The 20kWh lithium-ion battery that powers the 2013 Fit EV will fully charge in about three hours and boasts a maximum city range of 123 miles. Designed to handle an urban environment, the vehicle is perfect for your commute to work or weekend errands. Plus, it's just as stylish as the original Honda Fit.
